Origin Story

2010. The idea formed. Not born—formed. Like scar tissue.

Richard Mankiller didn't want to write books for publishers who treated authors like expendable cogs in a broken machine. He wanted something different. Something that didn't exist yet.

So he built it.

The Evolution

2025. A website. A stall at festivals. Books on folding tables. Conversations with strangers who became collaborators.

What started as a cooperative publishing company for writers quickly became something bigger. Writers needed editors. Editors needed designers. Designers needed printers. Everyone needed venues. Everyone needed audiences.

The pattern became clear: artists need infrastructure. Not gatekeepers. Not middlemen taking 85% and calling it "industry standard."

Infrastructure.

The Present

2026. East Providence, Rhode Island. A physical building.

isn't just for authors anymore. It's for musicians who can't afford studio time. Filmmakers who need editing equipment. Artists who need wall space. Performers who need stages.

Retail space. Venue space. Creator space. All under one roof.

Because every artist, regardless of medium, faces the same enemy: the cost of entry. The cost of creation. The cost of being heard.

We're lowering those costs. And raising the revenue artists actually keep.

The Mission

We don't want your rights. We don't want your masters. We don't want to own you.

We want to help you make your art. Sell your art. Grow your audience. Keep your profits.

The traditional industry model is designed to extract value from artists. We're designing the opposite: a system that adds value to artists.

More services. More supplies. More partners. Lower costs. Higher revenue for creators.

That's the vision. That's the future.

Why "Newspeak"?

If you have to ask, you already know.

Language is power. Control the language, control the narrative. Control the narrative, control reality.

The traditional arts industry has its own Newspeak: "industry standard," "paying your dues," "exposure," "we'll consider it."

We're reclaiming the term. Taking it back. Using it honestly.

This is . A new way of speaking about art, artists, and who deserves to profit from creativity.

Spoiler: It's the creators.

Who We Are

Artists helping artists. That's it.

No suits. No shareholders demanding quarterly growth. No executive bonuses paid for by your diminished royalties.

Just people who make things, helping other people make things.

If that sounds too simple, good. It should be simple. The complexity is a feature of exploitation, not creation.

Our Brands

Currently we run 3 different brands.

Newspeak

Newspeak is the Millenial Hipster Dad. His rhetoric and ideas are out there, but approachable.

Publishing under Newspeak is for outside-the-norm but still traditional approaches.

This brand is for using the system. Like cordyceps.

It CHURNS

It CHURNS is the angry stepchild that gets kicked at bedtime.

This brand is the throbbing anarchy that seethes beneath the surface and would never call itself "counter-culture."

Publishing with It CHURNS is a different approach of loud scrappy independence from the machine.

Nevermore

Nevermore is the quiet goth girlfriend of It CHURNS.

This brand focuses on grass-roots and underground avenues to be seen.

Publishing with Nevermore is more work but seeks to build long-term fans and brand advocates.
